RETREAT

The video linked to below is disturbing.

It is found in Powerline and it shows British Police falling back in the face of foul-mouthed demonstrators.

Why on earth would the Police react in such a way??
I can think of a few...

Are any possibly 'good reasons' any where near good enough?

While it's sickening to watch such tolerance, that's exactly what the bobbies were displaying here....and following procedure.

I'll bet that with the size of the "parade" and the fact that most of the streets were clear of traffic, that this was a planned and organized march, and probably had a permit to do it. So the rules for any police force there, (or here) would be to let them shout whatever the hell they want to, and even tolerate the road cones being thrown.
It was somewhat heartening to see some marchers being "corrected" with the stick when they got a bit too crazy though. In fact, I think (or maybe hope) that it was the cameraman that got it next...thus the end of the tape.

Still the whole thing is sickening, as is with much of free-speech rights. The real problem with Britain, is not with allowing these demonstrations, but with the much more quietly distructive policies of immigration, sharia, etc. Things that even a free democracy can and should be seriously limiting.

A question I've asked before - "When will they wake up?"
