LEST WE FORGET...DORCHESTER AND BIRKENHEAD

Kipling wrote of similar bravery/sacrifice when he gave voice to what came to be called the 'Birkenhead Drill', the 'drill' which coined the phrase "women and children first."

Heroism is a word that is applied to a lot of things. It really belongs in these two situations.

Great readings, these two maritime histories. Not very many of us (myself certainly included) can relate to the fear of facing the open ocean, and making such sacrifices in the face of it. Amazing bravery done by men of faith. Faith is the tool that enables great acts.
